Overcoming Fear In Your Life
A Teaching by David D. Hudson
God bless you in the name of Jesus Christ.
Today’s teaching is How To Overcome Fear In Your Everyday Life.
First let’s define fear, according to the Webster Dictionary; fear is Frighten, to feel fear in (oneself); to have a reverential awe of (fear God); to be afraid of : expect with alarm (fear the worst); to be afraid or apprehensive. There are many forms of fear. The evident and the camouflaged. Fear can be a phobic, afraid to go out at night, afraid to speak up in public, afraid of flight, fear of snakes ect…ect..
The camouflaged fear is the sneaky type that you don’t even know that it’s there.
Say you hear a rumor at work about a lay-off or cut back. You can start believing its true and there’s nothing you that can do about it. That’s fear darling, pure and simple fear. The right approach is to lean on God, give it to Him in the name of Jesus Christ and stop worrying. Believe God’s Word because if you’re not going to believe God’s Word, why bother reading it.
One thing that defeats God’s people is “Fear”
Fear captivates, embalms, it’s the destroyer, it enslaves and binds. Overcoming fear is easy, believe God’s Word, trust God to take care of you and Believe.
Everything in life depends on believing. All believing equals receiving.
Did you know that fear will bring on disease, illness, affect your job, health and finances.
Fear will develop misery. If you don’t believe that try working next to someone that worries all of the time or is a constant complainer. Pretty soon, you’ll be miserable because of the atmosphere created by that person. Negativity breeds negativity. If you think you’re going to get a cold or the flu as soon as it turns colder, chances are you will because you’re thinking that way. Ignore the cold medicine commercials on TV, think positive and believe that God protects you each and every day and 99 percent of the time you won’t get sick. Think positive at work, if you want another position or to move up in the company, work hard and believe positive that you’re going to get it and chances are you will. Don’t let your family history dictate your future, examples include an uncle or aunt had diabetes, you believe that you will contract the disease and chances are you will, the same with cancer, arthritis or any disease. You’ve got to believe that you can overcome and trust God to provide that security that you need in life. Finances is a big hitter. A lot of people dwell on money or the lack of money, thinking that they got to work three jobs to keep up with the Jones’ It don’t have to be that way, simply trust our Father to provide and He will.
Positive thinking, believing defeats fear. From God’s Word, I’m going to show you the power of believing. I’m referring to the NIV version by the way if you don’t have both NIV & King James Versions of the Bible, you can go to the bible.com and they have both versions available.
John 9
Jesus Heals a Man Born Blind
1 As Jesus went along, he saw a man who was blind. He had been blind since he was born. 2 Jesus' disciples asked him, "Rabbi, who sinned? Was this man born blind because he sinned? Or did his parents sin?"
3 "It isn't because this man sinned," said Jesus. "It isn't because his parents sinned. This happened so that God's work could be shown in his life. 4 While it is still day, we must do the work of the One who sent me. Night is coming. Then no one can work. 5 While I am in the world, I am the light of the world."
6 After he said this, he spit on the ground. He made some mud with the spit. Then he put the mud on the man's eyes.
7 "Go," he told him. "Wash in the Pool of Siloam." Siloam means Sent.
So the man went and washed. And he came home able to see.
8 His neighbors and those who had earlier seen him begging asked questions. "Isn't this the same man who used to sit and beg?" they asked.
9 Some claimed that he was.
Others said, "No. He only looks like him."
But the man who had been blind kept saying, "I am the man."
10 "Then how were your eyes opened?" they asked.
11 He replied, "The man they call Jesus made some mud and put it on my eyes. He told me to go to Siloam and wash. So I went and washed. Then I could see."
12 "Where is this man?" they asked him.
"I don't know," he said.
The Pharisees Want to Know What Happened
13 They brought to the Pharisees the man who had been blind. 14 The day Jesus made the mud and opened the man's eyes was a Sabbath. 15 So the Pharisees also asked him how he was able to see.
"He put mud on my eyes," the man replied. "Then I washed. And now I can see."
16 Some of the Pharisees said, "Jesus has not come from God. He does not keep the Sabbath day."
But others asked, "How can a sinner do such miraculous signs?"
So the Pharisees did not agree with each other.
17 Finally they turned again to the blind man. "What do you have to say about him?" they asked. "It was your eyes he opened."
The man replied, "He is a prophet."
18 The Jews still did not believe that the man had been blind and now could see. So they sent for his parents. 19 "Is this your son?" they asked. "Is this the one you say was born blind? How is it that now he can see?"
20 "We know he is our son," the parents answered. "And we know he was born blind. 21 But we don't know how he can now see. And we don't know who opened his eyes. Ask him. He is an adult. He can speak for himself."
22 His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jews. The Jews had already decided that anyone who said Jesus was the Christ would be put out of the synagogue. 23 That was why the man's parents said, "He is an adult. Ask him."
That’s powerful believing, trusting God and acting upon his Word.
More on overcoming fear.
Proverbs 29:25
If you are afraid of people, it will trap you.
But if you trust in the Lord, he will keep you safe.
In Job, there’s examples of fear.
Job 3:25 & 26
What I was afraid of has come on me.
What I worried about has happened to me.
26 I don't have any peace and quiet.
I can't find any rest. All I have is trouble." Thinking like that will bring all of your fears to life.
Defeating fear in Psalms 34: 4
I looked to the Lord, and he answered me.
He saved me from everything I was afraid of.
God will deliver you
2 Timothy 1: 7 God doesn’t give fear.
7 God didn't give us a spirit that makes us weak and fearful. He gave us a spirit that gives us power and love. It helps us control ourselves.
Positive believing and negative believing both yield results.
Romans 10: 9-11
9 Say with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord." Believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead. Then you will be saved. (I believe this is the only to salvation, you’ve got to believe that Jesus Christ is lord, the Son of God and that God raised him from the dead.) 10 With your heart you believe and are made right with God. With your mouth you say that Jesus is Lord. And so you are saved. 11 Scripture says, "The one who trusts in him will never be put to shame.”
Believe God and His promises and trust in Him to deliver you from doubt, fear, worry, unbelief because fear in your heart will enslave you and lead you to failure.
Nothing is more destructive to you than fear.
Trust is believing God
Believing God will bring about blessings, so believe rightly and reap the rewards.
Fear is the enemy’s number one tool for success.
The enemy likes to manipulate and control so that you forget about praying and believing.
A couple of examples are Adolf Hitler, he bred fear into the hearts of the Jews ; even his Nazi soldiers feared him.
Charles Manson was a pupil of the enemy’s fear factor. He used fear along with sex & drugs to boost his ego and gain the power and control over his followers. All of the family as he called them were afraid of the small guy, he was only 5’ 2” in statute . One of his followers said, “The little dude really scares me”
The enemy’s influence and the power of fear can lead you off in the wrong direction and keep you from understanding and enjoying the beauty of God’s Word and the benefits that come from trusting and believing God’s Word.
The most dangerous spirit that will cripple a Christian is fear.
Fear is your greatest enemy. Fear even destroys ministries.
Don’t let fear defeat you.
Remember that God doesn’t give fear, only love.
Trust in God, commit thy way unto the Lord and he will give you all of your heart’s desires.
Know that God will take care of you because you are a son of God.
Isaiah 40: 8 I prefer the KJV of this passage
8The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
Luke 12: 22-34
22Then Jesus said to his disciples: "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. 23Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. 24Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! 25Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life[b]? 26Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?
27"Consider how the lilies grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 28If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith! 29And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. 30For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. (God knows that you need clothes, food, transportation, jobs, money, companionship and even entertainment, God knows this and he will provide for His sons) 31But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.
32"Do not be afraid (God tells you not to fear, don’t be afraid) , little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom. 33Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will not be exhausted, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. 34For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Store God’s Word in your heart and believe Him, trust Him, praise and love Him.
3 John 2
2Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
So there you have it. God’s way of overcoming fear. Trust & Faith are the key elements to successfully eliminating fear in your life. So believe God and know for a fact that He will provide for you today, tomorrow and forever.
Always remember to pray daily, give God your concerns, your needs and trust and believe that He will take care of you.
